Cool Old Dog

I would really love to have this crazy, old greyhound (age 11) by my side. Katie would be so much fun to take to dog shows, class, and training sessions. I would love to enter her in practice agility run thrus at a reduced height, compete her in the veteran obedience classes, practice my heeling footwork, and feed her lots of treats. Socially, she is perfect. She would be so wonderful to.... blah, blah, blah.... I know you have heard this complaint before.

As you know, Katie has developed a phobia/fear of riding in our van, so most of the time she stays home. Well, I decided to make her go to my training field last Saturday to burn some of her energy. So here is a video clip of Katie practicing some of her obedience and agility. Rusty, but I am always amazed by how much they remember.

And then it started to rain and RAIN and RAIN! Well, I had already tortured Katie with riding in our van..... we were going to maximize her time away from the house. Rain or shine, Katie was coming home tired! Many greyhounds won't potty in the rain much less fetch a toy. Katie is just so awesome! I placed the camera under my agility table so everyone could see.

Remember Katie is 11 years old and had already worked in obedience and agility before fetching her toy. Just so much energy.

It has been my goal to get Shelby into agility, but need to start off with basic obedience.

Oddly enough, Shelby likes the rain. Not the hard, downpouring rain, but rain nonetheless. Thanks for sharing!

It is good to see Katie enjoying herself again rain or no rain. I bet she slept good that night. She looked sooo happy. Give her a big hug from me and Lexi.

It is so nice to see her so happy still working.
I love the spinnies! Dan does those when he gets really excited. It always bring a smile to my face.

Yea for Katie. She's still got that special drive. Bet she loved every minute of her outing, rain and all. I watched you out the window in that driving rain. You're so dedicated to your furry children.L, M

It's wonderful to see her going on despite the rain! Our 9 year old is full of energy and will play ball rain or shine. He loves his big jolly ball!

It's always good to see Katie doing some work. Of course she would be the only one willing to work and play in the rain. I'm just glad she didn't slip and fall in the rain.

She looks so happy to be spending some one-on-one time with mommy. Rain or shine. My kids aren't even double digits yet and don't have that much energy.

I used to love the spinnies, but I try to prevent them now. Occasionally one of her 360's will escape me though. I should say that the footing on my field is awesome. It was surfaced with stone dust originally and much to my dismay grass has grown into it. But overall it is a very nonslip surface. I made sure that Katie was running and turning on a more sparsely covered section so she'd have traction on the stone dust.

Thanks for the Katie probs, Everyone.
