Warm Ups

I mentioned recently that I have started warming up and cooling down the hounds more thoroughly since Riley's hock fracture.  I have created a bit of a routine doing pivots, backing up, nose-to-tail stretches, and rear crosses on the flat.
Then we finish up with some running and a few practice jumps before training or trialing.  I am trying to maintain the same routine for training and trialing.

Warming up is so important for any athlete, human or otherwise. Looks like a great warm up! I used to jog Summit around the perimeter of the ring and then had him do play bows, backing up, and nose-to-tail stretches. And the extra treats are of course appreciated!

You SO need to musical freestyle with Riley! You have parts of a routine already choreographed! I wish you'd consider it :)

Well I will have to try that too. I bet Riley was happy to be back in the ring again this weekend.

Riley looks great! I love the look of muscular hamhocks on a smooth coated dog.

Looks like there are some good warmup stretches in the routine for you too:)
