Swimming

Riley got to swim for the first time in 2010. Riley is not a big fan of the water, but I was pleased to see that she was willing to get off the step and swim after a treat. She obviously remembers her swimming lessons from last year. The inflatable E-collar keeps her ears above water so swimming is not uncomfortable.

She looks so cute out there in the water! I was thinking about getting a life vest and letting Bunny try swimming this summer, but I've really been on the fence about it. Riley sure looks like she's living it up, though!

Glad she had fun! Look like maybe she thinks swimming is not so bad after all ;)

Riley looks soo cool. I've been nervous to expose Kassa to swimming because of the stories of greyhounds sinking like stones. He runs through the creek ok though. You mentioned swimming lessons.. what does that entail?

Don't hesitate to try swimming with your greyhound. I have never seen one sink. Its very natural to want to live...greyhounds are no exception so they do instantly try. I would suggest starting with a doggie life jacket. Pick him up and carry him into the pool. And then just help him around the shallow end. Don't let him thrash around. And I always use food when I'm introducing something they might not like.
