Farm Fun

Recently, we visited my sister and Summerwind Farm. As always, I love to practice recalls in the securely fenced pastures. Lately, Riley has been wonderful with her off leash work and her recalls have been 100%. Maybe she is growing up.

On my way home, we stopped to help the couple with a greyhound and two small dogs I mentioned in a recent post. Riley got up close and personal with a small, white fluffy. Her initial interest in small dogs seems to be completely gone now.

I was there when our small dog tester initially tested Riley at the adoption kennel. She failed her. Riley was indeed very interested in the little terrier, but I knew in my heart that Riley was exclaiming "What the heck is that?" and was not looking to do any harm. But Riley can be very direct and assertive. It just was not an appropriate way to introduce herself to someone so much smaller. She is much more gentle and calm about now.

The farm looks like a great place to practice recall, and they look like they were having a great time out there!

i have no idea where to get that kind of distance here. of course, in a place that has heaps of pig dogs and staffies, i'm okay with not letting them go. i envy you, though.

riley, the fun police. omo's mine.

I've realized that Seka is pretty assertive with small dogs. Maybe it's just the alpha in her or maybe she just doesn't understand that they are small and she is big. She settles down quickly and doesn't mind them once they have met.
