Possessed

I think my pups are possessed by the giant wienie dog stuffy toy that Brittany gave us.
Even Stephen is mesmerized.

I love it! So cute!

May I ask how you begin to get your dogs to keep their attention on you when out and about? We just started obedience class ... Ady Bea and I. She does well at home and is moderately food motivated (not as much as some I've seen, but good at food motivation) and follows commands easily. But, when we go to class, it's as if she leaves her brain in the car and I can't get her attention ... let alone keep it for commands. She even loses interest in her treats when we're out and about.

We've only had Ady Bea a bit over a month and she's 20 months old. We adopted our sweet girl after she flunked out of racing school due to lack of prey drive. She definitely isn't lacking speed.

Thanks!

Hi Shelly,

You definitely want to keep Ady Bea slim. You want to be able to see an hour glass figure when you look down on her spine and a couple of ribs from the side.

When I am trying to increase food motivation, I will often train and then feed one morning and then the next day feed and train in the evening to create a 36 hour fast between training sessions. If you feed twice a day, train and then feed a large meal one morning. Then just a biscuit or a few kibbles that evening and the next morning. Then train that evening and feed a large meal afterwards.

Never feed before training. You might even consider skipping a meal if you know you have class or will be training away from home.

Also, use very motivating treats like Tyson chicken strips or steak strips. Grilled beef, salmon, or turkey burgers. Cheddar, Swiss, or string cheese. Hotdogs. Stinky fish treats. Canned dog food.

Hope that helps.
