SLOP & Secrets

I made S.L.O.P. (Superior Life Optimizing Pudding) or veggie mix this weekend. The mix included turnip, mustard, and collard greens, parsley, kale, cucumbers, yellow squash, carrots, ginger, garlic, and liver.

Last time, someone thought I was able to puree a large volume of vegetables without making a mess. I assure you that I cannot.
But I do have some help with cleaning the kitchen.

What a good mother's helper. (I've got one of those at my house.)

We have the same food processor!!! When I started the raw food diet I burned up the motor in my old food processor. Since it was about 20 yrs old that was no big deal. I just went out an bought a new one and I got the same one you have.

Do they do the dishes and laundry as well?

Do you have any thoughts on SLOP versus raw green tripe?

Yeah, I am happy with the Hamilton-Beech food processor. I think I have ruined 2 or 3 other varieties over the last 10 years.

One thought is that I can't do green tripe in the mornings :-P. 5 AM is just too early for that smell. I think green tripe is probably another beneficial ingredient to a healthy diet, but I would not use it entirely to replace fruits and vegetables. You just can't be sure what exactly is in the cow's stomach. I wouldn't want partially digested fescue grass to take the place of all the greens I otherwise have access to.

Has anyone's dogs tried the canned green tripe? Opinions? I haven't fed green tripe in years and it came frozen in a roll. Canned sounds much more user friendly.

I sometimes feed Solid Gold's canned green tripe. It adds some variety to the diet and can be pulled out when I'm out of slop and am too busy (or lazy) to mix up more. The dogs love it but it does stink to high heaven. I chose that brand since I can buy it locally, but it does have some ingredient (ie potatoes) besides tripe. The biggest advantages are shelf life and the size of the can. I feed the whole can once opened. Don't want anything that stinky hanging around in the fridge.

Jen, we use 'Tripett' (New Zealand green lamb tripe - canned). Ingredients: lamb tripe, water, garlic, vegetable gum, menhaden fish oil, glucosamine and chondroitin. They also have beef tripe. It's distributed by a company in Surrey, BC Canada; Mom and Pups near me carries it. Emma loves it; we give just part of a can each day. I'm sure it doesn't smell as bad as the fresh.

I can't believe your dogs eat vegetables. I wish mine did... I'm a vegetarian and I always have leftovers! Alas, they look at my like I'm trying to feed them rocks or something...
