Fun Match

Teresa has a terrible storm phobia that seems to worsen each year. Each spring it starts all over again. She has been so wonderful with her adorable personality this winter. However, Saturday’s storm reminded me to get ready. Unfortunately, Teresa starts having daily panic attacks when storm season sets in. They have to be controlled with drugs or she cannot make it through the night or the workday without panicking even when there are no storms. On a happier note, Teresa participated in an agility match recently for a club that needed entries to qualify. She absolutely loved everyone watching her run. She was so excited and happy, she could hardly control herself. I would be tempted to run her some if she would stay sound, but she seems to have issues when she trains. We will keep playing though.

Fun Match

Jes is doing quite well and still looks great. Her left front foot gives her trouble sometimes, but she does not let it slow her down. Recently, she competed in an agility match in the Preferred class that allows her to jump 20" instead of 24". The club needed entries, so I thought it would be fun for the "mature" ladies to participate. She was so hilarious and thoroughly enjoyed herself. I laughed quite a bit. I think in the future, I may enter her at agility practice run thrus and let her do some obstacles.

Prey Drive Reform School Graduate

This boy never ceases to amaze me. Recently, we shared a hotel room with one of his former victims, Kelsi the sheltie. About 2 years ago, he grabbed her by the tail and she was literally strung up in the air with her mom holding up one end with the leash and Travis clamped to the other end of her. Luckily she was unhurt and never knew what hit her. 2 years later, it really was so wonderful to actually see him lying on the bed with her. I just cannot believe how far he has come.Travis started competing in agility in September 2003 and only 6 months later, he has finished his Novice, Open, and Excellent titles. My goal for him is to qualify for the Nationals in Tampa, FL this January 2005. He needs 4 double Qs. Please keep your fingers crossed for him.

CDX!!!

Well, I just finished my first CDX with Katie. Anne Jones and I traveled together to the Greenville show held at a school in a hockey rink, I think. Nice matting. Not the usual thin mat over concrete. She earned a 191.5. She really was very easy to finish. We showed in Open A 5 times and qualified the 1st, 3rd, and 5th and with good scores (188.5, 187.5, 191.5).

New Titles

Most recently, all of the hard work has finally paid off. The unexpected has happened….. the boy has titles. He earned his AKC Companion Dog obedience title (CD with scores of 188.5, 195, 195 (out of 200), and High Score Hound in Asheville 06-15-03. The High Score Hound prize was a beautiful charcoal drawing of his head. It was the most wonderful obedience prize I have ever won.

He has also made his agility debut with great success in September 2003. He has earned both AKC Novice Agility titles and his Open Standard title in just 4 months. Three months later and he had earned his Open Jumpers and both Excellent titles.
