The One That Got Away

Last weekend, we also played on our friends' 60 acre horse farm that we visit several times a year.  It is such a good place to just let the dogs be dogs and to practice recalls off leash without having to worry about all the things you can encounter in a public place.

However, during one of our walks Seven almost caught herself a cat.  The catch-me-if-you-can colored cat (white) thought it would be a good idea to move from the pasture on the left to the pasture on the right while in plain view.  We were about 100 feet away.  Seven took off after it and was right on it in a split second.  I thought for sure it was a goner.
They quickly went around the corner and out of sight.  I pieced together a few moments later that the cat turned into the pasture straight in front of us and was able to interrupt Seven's pace by passing through the post and board fencing.
This gave the cat enough time to climb a tree.... a very tall tree.
And the cat was way up there.  I was afraid that the cat might not come back down, but the next morning he or she was gone.
Seven's only injury was a scrape and a bruise on her knee.
I am glad Seven had a little fun, but very glad the cat got away.
